Experience that translates into trust.
OAKMONT was founded to give top management what it rarely finds in one place: strategic vision, technical depth and complete independence.
Our story
Like a mountain: solid at the base, clear on the horizon.

Founder
Vitor Gouveia
Founder | IT Executive Advisor
Over three decades between technology and decision-making.
Vitor Gouveia started working in technology in 1990 and has since held almost every position where IT decisions are made and delivered. He has been a field engineer, technical director, international consultant, project manager, entrepreneur and team leader.
That is why he understands both what a technology decision demands in execution and the impact it has on the business.
Background
A career built in demanding environments.
Mission-critical discipline
He began his career in the Defence sector, working on electronic and communications systems for operational command. There he learned that technology has to work every time, with no room for improvisation.
Leadership and institutional responsibility
In the public Education sector he held pedagogical and school management roles. He was also part of the group responsible for preparing national exams — work with national impact and under intense scrutiny.
Technical leadership in multinational operations
At a multinational technology services company for the energy sector he was Technical Director for Portugal and Spain, responsible for maintaining fuel-station and large-retail networks — distributed operations with demanding service levels and a direct impact on clients’ revenue.
Management, strategy and business growth
At a leading IT company he built the franchising department from scratch: he redesigned structures and procedures, defined the network’s expansion model and supported franchisees. He later ran a business unit with responsibility for teams, recruitment and service quality.
International consulting for large organisations
He led solution analysis, design and implementation projects in Portugal, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Brazil and Angola, across sectors as diverse as chemicals, luxury, banking, construction and engineering, and oil and gas.
Data, processes and public administration
In banking he was responsible for administering databases for distributed systems, standardisation and performance optimisation in a critical environment. In manufacturing and public administration he led business-process automation and access-governance projects.
Entrepreneurship
He founded and grew his own ventures, including in real estate. He knows first-hand the pressure of an investment, of cash flow and of a decision without a safety net.
Portfolio and team management at scale
At an international engineering and technology consultancy he simultaneously managed 7 development projects, with 7 teams and a total of 70 professionals.
Building organisational capability
Throughout his career he has trained thousands of professionals and technical teams across many sectors, giving him a rare view of organisations’ real technology maturity.
Value for clients
What this experience means for our clients.
The full picture, from server room to boardroom
Few executive advisors have configured the infrastructure, built the solution, managed the team and answered for the result to the board. That is why the advice is realistic and actionable.
Technology independence
Knowledge spanning cloud, data, development, low-code, cybersecurity, service management and artificial intelligence. We don’t sell a technology; we recommend the one that serves the business.
Translating between business and technology
We speak the language of the board — risk, investment, return, timelines — and that of technical teams. Strategy is understood by those who decide it and by those who deliver it.
Cross-industry, cross-border experience
Banking, energy, oil & gas, industry, retail, luxury, construction, real estate, public sector, education and defence, across three continents. Proven patterns and mistakes already avoided.
An entrepreneur’s perspective
As the founder of several ventures, Vitor understands that every technology decision is, first and foremost, a business decision.
Focus on people
Technology only creates value when teams know how to use it. Experience in leadership and training ensures recommendations lead to real change.
In life, always welcome great challenges with open arms, even when they seem impossible. They were given to you by those who know you are capable of overcoming them.
